PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The GVLA Board continues to work on all of our behalves to preserve and enhance the rural character of Green Valley. The work varies from year-to-year and 2016 has largely been one of “roll up your sleeves” committee work.

For the past year I have been walking my dog along Green Valley Road, mainly north of Rockville Road. My experiences reflect what is going on in our valley in the most basic of ways. The majority of people slow down, give us a wide birth and return my smile and wave. Some drivers are traveling well above the 30MPH rate: please remind contractors who visit your property of our speed limits and challenge yourself to travel at the posted speed limit where your friends and neighbors walk, jog, ride their bikes and raise their children.

Trash pickup is also included on my dog-walking route. Wind blows trash, especially on garbage collection days. However, cigarette and cigar butts replace themselves on a daily basis from drivers who are not aware of the risk of high fire danger as a result of their actions. Be careful! We live in a beautiful valley. I encourage you to keep the road front area of your property free of trash and dry grass and thank you for choosing Green Valley as your home!
